Synopsis
An American flag at half mast looms over a fire station in a small Louisiana town. Here, cigarette smoke flows freely, churches stand on every corner, and deer heads decorate the walls. The 1-year anniversary of a high school mass shooting trails the town like a shadow. Though most people have seemingly moved past the incident, for EMT Randall Clark and paramedic Nijah Siad, it is an entirely different story.
When Randall's longtime EMT partner 'Cubano,' uncharacteristically quits, Randall and Nijah are forced to work together. After their first shift together, the duo reluctantly develop mutual respect for each other. Despite clashing personalities and polarizing life values, the duo bond over their mutually realized tragedies.
Randall must come to terms with his PTSD before it takes over his well-being. Nijah must salvage her relationship with her teen sister, Yamina, who has fallen into depression after the death of her boyfriend in the school shooting. Can they help each other move forward or will they allow their differences to hold them back.
